7 Constantia Road, Wynberg (Southern Suburbs) and Capri Village (Southern Peninsula), Cape Town

Special Interest : *I enjoy working with adolescents and young adults. Many of my clients are students from UCT. My range of work involves working with depression, anxiety, identity issues, trauma experienced in childhood, relationship difficulties and loss.

I also have experience working with the expatriate community overseas. I enjoyed working with and developing an understanding of the unique stresses experienced outside of one’s passport country, and how that impacts on individual personalities. Living abroad can raise past issues that are unexamined and unprocessed, as well as emotional loss which is part of relocating. I helped my clients with some of these difficulties which in turn built emotional resilience and a willingness to engage with the process of living in a new place. I would like to offer my support and experience to those living away from their home and family of origin.

In this way I am also offering emotional support to South Africans who have returned home after living abroad and struggling to adjust, as well as those who are planning to relocate and/or immigrate.

*Support Group for Singles - If you would like to gain some insight into yourself as a single person or are simply looking for emotional support, please join our weekly therapy group for singles, facilitated by myself and a colleague.

*Skype sessions are available for those travelling or unable to attend in person.

MA. Clin. Psych (Unisa)

Cape Town

084 749 0818
Special Interest : Relationship/couples counselling/understanding and managing anxiety and
depression/personal growth through life transitions/self esteem work/trauma
counselling/working through bereavement

We all find ourselves embedded within a complex web of important
relationships. Current times are characterized by emotional strain and
relationship conflicts. Empowering people to find more constructive ways to
understand and engage in their relationships, with their characteristic
complexities and ambiguities, working through life transitions and
adjustments and personal growth work are the main themes of my work.

Issues reverberate throughout our life span. Different
life stages present new challenges or call for us to deal with issues that we may have faced before, on deeper levels.

Renewing the way one looks at life, creating mental disciplines and
behavioural changes, improves self esteem and relationship connections.
My overall focus is on providing an empathetic space within which to help
people understand themselves and their circumstances on deeper levels, and to deal more effectively with their life challenges.

My background training was in ecosystemic thinking, family and narrative
therapy. As we all know though life’s best teacher is experience. Over many
years now through personal life experience and professional exposure to
various ideas and approaches, I have integrated all that I have learned and
essentially developed and continue to evolve an eclectic style of
psychotherapy where my clients needs are paramount.

Special Interest : I have a special interest in the following:
Working with children from divorce;
Clinical Hypnosis;
Emotional Intelligence;
Psychometric Assessments.

I am a licensed facilitator of The Sandcastles Program - Helping the Children of Divorce Rebuild. The image of a child carefully moulding her new "home" of sand to replace the old one swept away by turbulent water, captures the difficult quest every child of divorce must complete in order to grow up emotionally healthy and equal to life’s future challenges.

I hope that every child of divorce will be offered the opportunity to go through The Sandcastles Program as no child should be dealing with the intense emotions following parental divorce on his/her own.

Special Interest : I work with adults and adolescents interested in both short and long-term psychotherapy.

My approach is centred on providing a safe space for therapy. A safe therapeutic space requires an open, compassionate and non-judgmental attitude. I place great value in the ‘therapeutic alliance’, which is the extent to which the therapist and the client work together.

Therapy can be a healing process, a support in times of distress, but also a process of personal growth. I have experience in working with a wide range of psychological conditions including the following:
• Trauma
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Bereavement and loss

Special Interest : My area of interest is the well-being and healthy psychological development of young women. My training, involvement in international initiatives and my research has provided me with exposure to cutting edge services in this field.

I run a practice for women between the ages of 15 and 35. I focus on two critical areas of their development:
1. career development,and
2. self-management.

1. Career development
Occupational fulfillment and financial independence have become key factors in women’s development. I offer career coaching with a specific focus on women’s unique career realities and challenges. Women might make use of my services when:

- they need to make career decisions (including choosing a career, choosing a course for graduate study, and deciding to stay or leave their current job)
- they want to develop or expand their career vision
- they feel that their current job lacks meaning and purpose
- they want to consider relationship and family plans along with occupational plans in a realistic way.
- they want to improve their work/life balance.

2. Self-management
I provide short-term therapy and life coaching to help young women develop skills by means of which they can direct themselves toward the achievement of their goals effectively. Women might make use of my services when they:
- generally feel stressed, overwhelmed or frustrated
- need assistance with setting and reaching goals
- wish to address unhelpful responses to stress
- wish to manage their time better and address procrastination
- struggle with focusing on tasks at hand
- feel unproductive
- wish to develop insight into their own functioning.
